You can arrange the items in the project in the order you desire using the Arrange Items functionality available in Project Editor. Once arranged, you can download the list of items in the order you arranged them to an Excel file. Also, the Client reports you generate for the project will show the items in the order you have arranged them using the Arrange Items functionality.

To arrange items in the project, go to Project Editor and click Arrange Items in the ribbon. You will see the Arrange Project Items modal, where you can arrange the items. You can also open this with keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+A when an item is selected in the editor.

In the Arrange Project Items modal, by default, the items are listed by the grouping you select in the Options section of the Project Editor ribbon.

  • For products, the accessories, wire, and labor associated with the product are shown under the product. You will need to click the "+" icon on the far left of the product row to view the accessories, wire, and labor associated with the product.

  • For packages, the items in the package are listed under the package. Click the "+" icon on the far left of the package row to view the accessories, wire, and labor associated with the package.

The following is a screenshot of the Arrange Project Items modal, where the items were grouped by location in Project Editor.

The Arrange Items functionality has two parts: grouping items and arranging items. While there is no preference over whether to group items first or arrange items first, in this article, we describe the "Group By" functionality first because of its impact on the "Arrange Items" functionality.

Group By Options

You can group the items in the project in multiple ways. To choose your criteria for grouping the items, select one of the options in the Group By dropdown.

The following are the options.

None

Items are not grouped by any criteria, and you will see a flat list of items.

Location

Items are grouped by the locations they are associated with, and you will see the locations in the project at the first level, and the items in the locations at the second level.

System

Items are grouped by the systems they are associated with, and you will see the systems in the project at the first level, and the items in the locations at the second level.

Location and System

Items are grouped first by the locations they are associated with and further grouped by the systems they are associated with.

You will see the locations in the project at the first level, the systems at the second level, and the items associated with the systems at the third level.

System and Location

Items are grouped first by the systems they are associated with and further grouped by the locations they are associated with.

You will see the systems in the project at the first level, the locations at the second level, and the items associated with the locations at the third level.

To collapse the expanded view of locations and/or groups, right-click the location or system title row and click Collapse All. This will collapse the entire group view, irrespective of the grouping you have chosen.

To expand the group view to the item level, click the location system title row, then click Expand All.

Arrange Options

There are two item arrangement options: Alphabetical Order and Specific Order.

Alphabetical Order

By default, when you open the Arrange Items modal for the first time for a project, the items are listed in alphabetical order.

To arrange the items in the project in alphabetical order, click Arrange Items in Alphabetical Order in the Arrange Items section of the ribbon.

  • If you have selected Group By as None, you will see a flat list of items in the project listed in alphabetical order.

  • If you selected any other Group By option, you will see items within the locations or systems listed in alphabetical order. For example, if you have selected Location and System as the Group By option, you will see items in every system listed in alphabetical order.

The following screenshot shows items grouped by location, then by system, and arranged in alphabetical order.

Specific Order

To arrange the items in the project in a specific order that you want, click Arrange Items in Specific Order in the Arrange Items section of the ribbon. The feature to arrange items in a specific order lets you move one or more items up, down, or to a specific row in a location, system, item, or package group.

You cannot move items across locations, systems, items, or packages.

  • To move items up, select the items using the Shift or Control key on the keyboard, and click Move Up in the ribbon.

  • To move items up, select the items using the Shift or Control key on the keyboard, and click Move Down in the ribbon.

The following screenshot shows how 2 items in a location can be moved up or down in the location group.

To move an item to a specific row in the group:

1/ Select the item.

2/ Click Move to Row in the ribbon

3/ In the Move to Row modal, enter the number of the row you want to move it to.

4/ Click Ok.
