You can access the Categories setting in the Control Panel to add and manage categories and subcategories for the items in your SI Catalog.
To access the Categories setting, click the following icon.
This will open the following form.
Consider the following before you start adding categories and subcategories.
When you add products to SI from the D-Tools Library or our libraries, such as AV-IQ, the categories, and subcategories assigned to the products in the library are automatically created in SI.
When importing items from CSV files, you don't need to assign a category and subcategory to products. However, if you edit an item in the catalog, you will need to assign a category to save the changes.
Add and Manage Categories
You can add as many new categories and subcategories as you would like to.
To add a new category or subcategory:
1/ Click New.
2/ On this form, add a name and abbreviation, and choose a type for the item: Equipment, Speaker, Wire, and Labor.
3/ Click Save.
The number of items assigned to each category and subcategory will be displayed in parentheses in the category and subcategory names.
In the Filter menu section, you can view categories and subcategories by the item type.
In the Options menu section, you can choose whether or not you want the abbreviations (the first 3 characters in the name) to be displayed.
You can delete multiple categories and subcategories at a time by holding down the Shift (to select a series) or Ctrl (to select outside of a series.)
If you delete a category, any products assigned to that category will have their category designation set to "Unassigned," and these items will not be assigned to a subcategory.
Change Case
You can change the case of one or multiple categories and subcategories at a time.
Select the categories and subcategories by holding down Shift (to select a series) or Ctrl (to select outside of a series) and select the Case option: Upper, Lower, Title, or Sentence.
