How to set Calculated Pricing for an Allowance

You have the option of setting "Calculated Pricing" for allowances vs. setting fixed prices. Such allowances are referred to as calculated allowances.

You can set calculated pricing for the product and labor in the allowance.

  • Existing allowances in your catalog cannot be converted to use calculated pricing. Only new allowances can be set to use calculated pricing when they are being added.

  • Calculated allowances do not calculate off of other Items, i.e., the price of a calculated item (product, labor, or allowance) cannot be used for a calculated allowance.

To use calculated pricing on an allowance, when creating the new allowance, click the Price tab.

Here, you will see the calculated option for both product and labor.

Click the Calculated option or click the Calculate button for the product or labor to open the Calculated Pricing settings for them.

The following instructions apply to both the product and labor sections of the allowance.

Source

First, choose a value from the Source field. You can choose one of the fields shown in the image below.

The "Recalculate Automatically" option is checked by default.

  • This will automatically update the unit cost or the unit price of the allowance within a project when the value for the Source changes.

  • If you do not have this box checked, you can still manually recalculate the price for a calculated product within a project.

Operation

Next, you choose an operation from the following list.

Value

Once you've chosen an operation, you can then set a value. The value will either be a percentage or a decimal number based on the operation chosen.

Filters

You have the option of setting one or more of the following filters shown below.

  • The "Current Parent Item" is pre-selected, as this is very likely the behavior you will want for calculated items, primarily to maintain expected pricing when a quantity greater than one is split into various quantities.

  • The "System Level" allows you to choose between the current system, or include subsystems.

  • If you do not choose a filter when using a "Total" Source, the project total for that source will be used.
