How to check the Job Cost Report

The Job Cost view and report is one of the "Job Cost" views and reports in the Project Explorer. This view displays budgeted vs. actual for product cost, labor cost, and labor hours.

You must have the Run Job Cost Reports user group permission under the Projects permission group.

Select the projects, and in the Job Cost section of the ribbon, click Reports > Job Cost. Then, choose whether you want to generate the report By Phase or By Labor Type.

This will open the Project Job Cost form. You can collapse or expand as needed. Job Cost By Phase is shown in the example below.

The following are the fields in the form.

Start date of the project

% Complete

This calculation is ([Actual Product Cost] + [Actual Labor Cost]) / ([Budgeted Product Cost] + [Budgeted Labor Cost]).

This calculation can be overridden for projects assigned a status with a state of Complete.

Budgeted Product Cost

This is the cost of all products in the project.

Actual Product Cost

This is the actual cost of all products in the project that are either Installed, Picked, Received, or Ordered.

Product Cost Variance

This calculation is [Budgeted Product Cost] - [Actual Product Cost].

Product Variance %

This calculation is [Actual Product Cost] / [Budgeted Product Cost] * 100.

Budgeted Labor Cost

This is the cost of all labor in the project.

Actual Labor Cost

This is the actual cost of all approved time sheets for the project.

Labor Cost Variance

This calculation is [Budgeted Labor Cost] - [Actual Labor Cost].

Labor Variance %

This calculation is [Actual Labor Cost] / [Budgeted Labor Cost] * 100.

Budgeted Labor Hours

This is the total number of labor hours in the project.

Actual Labor Hours

This is the total number of labor hours on approved time sheets.

Hours Remaining

This calculation is [Budgeted Labor Hours] - [Actual Labor Hours].

Hours Remaining %

This calculation is (1 - ([Actual Labor Hours] / [Budgeted Labor Hours])) * 100.

Assigned To

The user to whom the project is assigned.

Sales Rep

The user assigned as the Sales Rep for the project.

Project Manager

The user assigned as the Project Manager for the project.

Designer

The user assigned as the Designer for the project.

Resources

All resources associated with the project.

You can export this view to Excel or PDF.
