When using Mobile Quote to create quotes, you have the option to add items based on their prices, with the assumption that the higher the price, the higher the quality of the item. SI allows you to set three Price/Quality levels: Good, Better, and Best.
Here are some things you need to know when setting and using the Price/Quality levels in Quotes.
Price/Quality levels can be set manually, or you can allow SI to set them automatically using the 20/50/80 method.
Price/Quality levels, when set at the category level, automatically propagate to all subcategories.
You can set different Price/Quality levels for different subcategories in a category.
Price/Quality levels don't apply to packages. However, you can manually set a Good, Better, and Best pricing level for packages. When you select the Price/Quality level in the quote, the package will be priced accordingly.
When you select the Price/Quality level in the quote, you will see only items that fall within that level in the item drawer.
Here is an example to help you understand how SI automatically sets the levels using the 20/50/80 method.
Imagine that you have a category with the lowest-priced product at $200 (we'll call this x) and the highest-priced product at $1700.
For the mathematical calculations in the 20/50/80 method, SI will:
Assume $200 (lowest-priced product) as "X" and $1700 (highest-priced product) as "Y."
Calculate the difference between X and Y, which in this case is $1500 ($1700 - $200).
Calculate the increment value by dividing the difference by 10, in this case ($1500/10), $150.
So, the increment value to set the Pricing/Quality levels here is $150.
SI will then set the Pricing/Quality levels as follows:
Good = X + 20% of the way from X to Y = $200 + (2 * $150) = $500
Better = X + 50% of the way from X to Y = $200 + (5 * $150) = $950
Best = X + 80% of the way from X to Y = $200 + (8 * $150) = $1400
What this means is:
Items that cost $500 or below will be available for selection when you select the Good Price/Quality level in the quote.
Items that cost between $501 and $950 will be available for selection when you select the Better Price/Quality level in the quote.
Items that cost more than $951 will be available for selection when you select the Best Price/Quality level in the quote.
