How to install and use the Mobile Install app

SI's Mobile Install (MI) functionality enables SI users, installers, and technicians to collaborate on install tasks and service orders.

You can either access the (MI) functionality via a Web portal (https://mobile.d-tools.com/app) or download and install the Mobile Install app to access it.

Install Mobile Install App

You can download and install the Mobile Install app from the Apple App Store on iPhones and from the Google Play Store on devices running Android 11 or later.

An Internet connection is generally required to use the Mobile Install app. However, the app also has a read-only offline cache that lets you use it without an Internet connection. You can use the work timer and add time sheet entries when you are using the app without an Internet connection.

Log in to the App

You can use the same credentials you use to log in to the Web interface to log in to the Mobile Install app.

Open the app and enter the username on the first screen. Tap Next, enter the password, and tap Log in.

Once logged in, you will see the MI dashboard. You can manage your tasks and service orders.

Use the Mobile Install App

The overall functionality available on the Mobile Install app is the same as that when using MI from the Web interface.

Here are the changes.

Top-Level Navigation

The top-level navigation options on the app are at the bottom, arranged horizontally. In the Web interface, they are on the left, arranged vertically.

Setup Tab

The Setup tab is at the top of the app. In the Web interface, the Setup tab is in the left navigation menu.

Notifications Icon

There is a Notifications icon at the top of the app. Clicking this icon will show you the notifications that you would receive only via email if you were using the Web interface. You can click Mark all as read to clear the notifications from the app.

Offline Cache

The offline cache syncs to your mobile device each time you launch the app, and then every two hours while you have an internet connection. You will see a Download icon at the top of the app to access the Offline Cache functionality that will allow you to manually update your offline cache if needed. Click the icon, then click Update cache to copy the tasks and service orders to the cache. You will see the number of tasks and service orders in the cache in a text box above the Update cache button.

When offline, you can view task and service order details (read-only). You can continue running the work timer, and create time sheets for Tasks and Service Orders when offline. When you have an active Internet connection, time sheets are synchronized with SI.

The offline cache is for 14 days: the 7 previous days and the 7 future days (including today).
