Creating Users

How to create users in SI

You can create three types of users in SI via the Users setting in the Control Panel.

  • User - a person granted the ability to sign in to SI, a "user" of SI.

  • Resource - a person who can be assigned to projects, tasks, and service orders. You may or may not grant the ability to sign in to SI to a resource.

  • Mobile Installer - a person granted the ability to sign in to the Mobile Install website.

If you have enabled the Azure Active Directory (AAD) integration, you can import users into SI or link existing SI users to AAD users.

Check out this article for more details.

Create User

To create a user:

1/ Go to the Control Panel.

4/ Enter the required fields: Name and E-mail. Mobile, Roles, and Category are optional fields.

Roles are not required but are very useful throughout SI for identifying users' responsibilities in your organization.

Assigning a category to the user is optional, but it can be used to filter users throughout SI.

Choose User Type

User

Select the Can Sign In to System Integrator check box, add a username and password, and assign the user to a user group.

Users contribute towards the concurrency limit in SI.

The Password field being enabled, as shown above, is a result of the "Administrator can set user passwords" option under the User Sign-In Policies setting.

Resource

Allowing resources to sign into SI is optional. They are notified via email about their involvement in projects, tasks, and service orders.

Resources do not contribute towards the concurrency limit in SI.

Mobile Installer

Select the Mobile Installer check box, retain or change the email, and select one of Administrator or Installer as the role. This role differs from the roles you assign to users and resources.

Check out this article for more details.

Specify Cost

The Cost section is visible only to users in the Administrator user group or in a user group with the "View Resource Costs" permission.

The Cost fields must be populated if you plan to use the Time Sheets functionality.

Do the following to specify the Cost fields:

  • Choose Hourly Wage and enter a wage per hour or Annual Salary. When Annual Salary is selected, the hourly wage will be determined using the following formula.

  • Entering a value in the Burden (%) field is optional. However, it allows you to add "weight" to the hourly wage or annual salary to account for the resource's overhead (e.g., benefits) and calculate the Burdened Labor Cost. The Burdened Labor Cost will be updated accordingly.

Time sheets cannot be approved for a resource if the Burden (%) field is not specified.

  • Selecting Overtime Exempt will ignore the Overtime Multiplier in Time Sheet Settings when approving time sheets.

5/ When done, click Save and Close.

Send E-mail

Click the Send E-mail button. SI will send two emails to the user.

The first email will contain their username, server name, and port number; this information is required to sign into SI initially.

The email also includes a link to download the latest SI client so they can install it on their machine if this has not already been done.

The second email contains their password.
