You can explore the Submittals setting in the Control Panel to add and manage Submittals templates used to generate Submittals reports in projects.
Submittals are a unique style of reporting functionality for an SI project. The difference between a Submittal report and a Standard report is that the submittals are designed to display links to files assigned to products within a project and any other project files you wish to hyperlink to other reports or PDFs of drawings.
To access the Submittals setting, click the following icon.
This will open the following form.
Add and Manage Submittal Templates
You can add as many new Submittals templates as you would like to.
To add a new Submittals template, click New.
On the Create Catalog Submittal form, you will see the following tabs.
General
Here, you can add a name and description and choose your preference for handling the files for the submittal.
The following are the General options.
Option | Description |
Use only links in submittal report | This option is the default, and no files will be downloaded to a folder with this option.
The hyperlinks in the report will point to the Amazon S3 storage. |
Download files for use in submittal report | This option can take a considerable amount of time to generate as all files will be downloaded from your Amazon S3 bucket to a local folder where the PDF of the Submittal report will be generated.
The PDF must be opened from within the folder, as the report contains hyperlinks to files within the folder.
Use this option if you are required to provide actual files vs. links with your submittal. |
Download new or updated files | This option is only available when the "Download files for use in submittal report" option is selected.
Use this if you want SI to check for new or updated files to download to the local folder for the Submittal report. |
Categories
On this tab, you will choose which files and links for products you want to include on the submittal by selecting the appropriate categories.
The files and links are associated with products and are managed on the Files tab for products.
Files and Links added to products in your SI Catalog are one type of document that can be included in a Submittal report. The other type is project files, which you will select when running a Submittal report for a project.
Also noteworthy is the "Include In Submittal" setting for products, which determines whether or not they should be included in Submittal reports. For example, you may not want to include files or links for connectors or wire products.
This option is selected by default for all products downloaded from the D-Tools Library. You can change this setting both at the catalog and the project level. Use filtering and Mass Update to change this on the fly as needed when running Submittal reports from within the Project Editor.
Report
The final tab when creating a submittal is to choose which Submittal report you wish to run. There is only one default Submittal report, but it has three options for how you want to group the products in the report. If you have created any customized Submittal reports, those will also be displayed here as an option.
When you are done, click Save and Close. You can now add any of your saved Submittal report templates to a project to generate the Submittal report.
Submittal Templates in Projects
In the project, you can add an existing Submittal template, or you can choose to create a new Submittal template that is project-specific.
