You can use the Add From Library feature to download products from D-Tools Library. Downloading saves you a ton of time when adding products to your SI catalog by providing most of the fields needed to use within projects once you set your pricing and verify the data.
To add products from D-Tools Library, go to Product Explorer and click Library > Add From.
This opens the Add Products From Library interface.
Sort Options
You can choose how you want the products in D-Tools Library to be sorted.
Filter Options
You can choose how you want the products in D-Tools Library to be filtered.
Download Options
If you want to download multiple products displayed on the page, use Shift or Ctrl on your keyboard to select the products, click the Download button in the ribbon, and click Selected.
If you click the Download button in the ribbon and click All, all products displayed on the page will be downloaded. You can change the "records per page" at the bottom of the page to download more products in one download instance.
If you want to download one product, select the product you wish to download and click the Download button next to the selected product.
Another option is to select the products you want to download using Shift or Ctrl on your keyboard and drag them over to the Downloads section on the right side of the interface.
Select Product Fields and Other Options
You can choose what product fields you want to download and a few other options for the downloaded products.
Under "Field to update for," you will see two tabs to specify the product fields that should be downloaded.
New products - products not in your SI catalog.
Matched products - products already downloaded to your SI catalog.
You can select different fields under each tab to specify the fields that will be downloaded for new products and matched products.
For matched products (products already downloaded to your SI catalog), you should be wary of not overwriting fields you have customized.
The following are the other options.
Option | Description |
Mark new products as approved | This option is checked by default.
You can uncheck this if you want to review and approve the downloaded products before making them available to other SI users. |
Ignore blank product field values | This option is checked by default.
Having this checked will not overwrite the manually updated fields of products you have previously downloaded from D-Tools Library with blank values if the manually updated fields currently have blank values in D-Tools Library.
See this example. |
Download product thumbnails | This will download the JPG thumbnail image for products. |
Download product large images | This will download the other images available for the products. For example, the front panel image and the back panel image. |
Example scenario: Ignore blank product field values
You downloaded a product with no MSRP value and no I/Os.
You manually add the MSRP, but request that D-Tools update the I/Os.
You are notified that we have added the I/Os, so you open the D-Tools data browser and choose to download the product again.
You would want the "Ignore blank product field values" box checked so as not to zero out the MSRP you manually entered.
Mapping Options
You have the option to map the labor types and phases assigned to the products in D-Tools Library to the custom labor types and phases you have created in SI.
The Labor Types Mapping feature lets you map the four default labor types assigned to products in D-Tools Library to the labor types you created in the Control Panel in SI.
This feature will automatically assign the SI labor types to the downloaded products.
The Phase Mapping feature lets you map the four default phases assigned to products in D-Tools Library to the phases you created in the Control Panel in SI.
This feature will automatically assign the SI phases to the downloaded products.
Vendor Partner Options
You can connect to vendor partners and receive product pricing (unit cost), and also schedule the price updates in the Vendor Partners area in the ribbon.
