Optional Items are items you mark as "Optional" in the project and present as an add-on item. Products, labor items, and packages can be marked as optional items.

Optional items are only displayed on Proposal reports, and their pricing is not calculated into any totals on the report.

To mark an Item as optional, go to the Edit view of the item and select the Optional checkbox.

When you mark a product or labor item as optional, accessories to the items will also be marked as optional.

The same is true for items within a package.

Optional items display in the Project grid with a green background, but you can change this color in the Application Settings under Control Panel.

Discarding Optionals

If you want to remove optional items from a project, you can remove selected or all optional Items via the Tools tab.

Optional Items in Proposals

The only reports that "recognize" optional items are the Proposal reports in SI. Optional items are displayed at the end of each grouping on the report titled "Additional Options." The price is displayed, but is not calculated anywhere in this report.

You can change the wording and color of the optional item text via the Report settings under the Control Panel.

Another Report setting can be used to change the "Project Summary" section of Proposal reports to display the optional totals.

You can also choose not to include optional items on a Proposal via a Parameter within the Report Definition.
